New Curriculum this year, so students may be learning a new curriculum without outcomes from the previous grade, may be some discrepancies from last year’s indicators to this year (Math is an example of what is more challenging in younger grades compared to what was taught previously)

Speak with teachers if there are any concerns about report cards

Kindergarten registration opened yesterday, there are 77 new students registered as of today. Last year had just shy of 200 applications for the lottery. Three Kindergarten classes next year, 2 AM classes, 1 PM class.

Starting mid-February with three mornings per week until the end of the year.

    Cori:

    Student Surveys & Parent Surveys

Starting January 22nd have two surveys that will be open.

CBE Student Survey – Open to Grade 5 & 6 students. Opportunities for students to report on themselves, abilities, and accomplishments to take pride in what they have achieved.

CBE uses these results to see where students are at, and use this knowledge to inform what is done at schools

Alberta Education Assurance Survey – Open to Grade 4 Students, Grade 4 Parents, and Grade 4 Teachers. Feedback to Alberta Education about school, school work, opportunities. Used to see what is working and what needs to be improved. Results are shared with the whole community.

Letters to come out to inform when these surveys will be out – in Lea’s Weekly Messages.

Question from Joanna: Are surveys done during class time? Yes, these are completed during class time. Administration reviews how these are conducted and why.

Question from Shar: When does Kindergarten registration close? February 13th close for Kindergarten registration,

Lottery draw is February 14th, done by a parent

Question from Taryn: Is the Open House for children or for parents? Open House is for parents, not designed for children. Children come to Kindergarten Orientation, instead. Open House is a lot of talking and it’s busy, best for children to be left with Child Care.
